The Japan Masters 2024 has seen 23 men’s singles players withdraw from the event.

The BWF Japan Masters 2024 have begun as shuttlers are showcasing their top notch performances in the final supers 500 series event this season. While the main draw has now been finalised, it will be missing out on a few star players who have withdrawn from the tournament. There have been big names missing in all five categories of the event.

In men’s singles, Anders Antonsen had confirmed his absence in the main draw a month ago. He had reached the finals of the Denmark open last month. Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun-Yi is also one of the major shuttlers who will not be in action this week. Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting became part of the latest withdrawal list.

Amongst the Indian players, four of them will not be featuring in the event. Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian had announced his withdrawal early last month as he was later joined by Ayush Shetty, Kiran George and Priyanshu Rajawat. Malaysia’s Soong Joo Ven and Cheam June Wei had earlier missed the Korea Masters and will be missing all the action in Japan too.

In women’s singles, five South Korean players will be absent in the event. Olympic gold medallist, An Se-young is yet to recover from a knee injury. Kim Ga-Eun also withdrew from the event two weeks back. She last competed in the Denmark Open in October. Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara continues to miss events and has not played a match since the Japan Open in August.
