Home favourite Kodai Naraoka is the second seed in the tournament.

The badminton world shifts its focus to Japan this week as the Japan Masters 2024 gets underway from November 12. Following the Korea Masters, this BWF Super 500 tournament on the BWF World Tour circuit will be one of the final events before the BWF World Tour Finals next month.

Denmark’s top singles player and defending champion, Viktor Axelsen, who retired in the second round of the Denmark Open last month, will make his comeback. He has had a tough few weeks, losing to China’s Lei Lan Xi in the first round of the China Open. In the Denmark Open the following month, he retired in the second set of the second-round match against Alex Lanier of France.

For Indian fans, there’s positive news as PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will be in action at the BWF Super 500 tournament. Sindhu had defeated China’s Han Yue before bowing out to Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the quarterfinals of the Denmark Open.

Lakshya, on the other hand, faced China’s Lu Guang Zu in the first round of the Denmark Open. He won the first game and was leading after the interval in the second. However, he ultimately suffered a defeat in three sets. That said, Sen will be seeking redemption at the Japan Masters, aiming to bounce back from his recent setback and regain his momentum.
