The Kaohsiung Masters 2024 badminton tournament in set to begin on Tuesday (June 18) in Taiwan, Chinese Taipei, featuring some of the upcoming young guns in the world of badminton. Reigning men’s singles champion Lin Chun-Yi of Chinese Taipei is the number one seed. The World no. #17 is heading into the tournament on the back of an impressive run at the Australian Open last week, reaching the semifinals. Meanwhile, India’s Sameer Verma, who lost out to Chun-Yi in the quarter-final stage of the BWF Super 500 tournament in Sydney, had won the Kaohsiung Masters back in 2016.

India’s challenge in the men’s singles will feature the likes of Abhishek Yeligar, Siddhanth Gupta, Raghu Mariswamy, Bharat Raghav and Hemanth M. Gowda among others.

In the women’s singles section, World no. #53 Ashmita Chaliha is leading the Indian charge. The 24-year-old advanced to the last-eight of the Malaysia Masters in May courtesy of defeating World no. #10 Beiwen Zhang of USA in a three-set encounter.
