Lakshya Sen ends title drought after challenging 2026 campaign
Sen had to overcome several difficult matches to reach the Hylo Open 2026 final. He started his campaign with a three-game victory over Finland’s Joakim Oldorff before getting past compatriot Kiran George in the second round.
The Indian then recovered from losing the opening game against Finland’s Kalle Koljonen to win his quarter-final 14-21, 21-17, 21-13.
In the semi-finals, Sen produced a more convincing performance against number 6 seed, France’s Toma Junior Popov, winning 21-17, 21-13 to book his place in the title clash.
Earlier in the season, Sen had reached the final of the All England Open in March, where he finished runner-up to Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chun-yi. However, a difficult run on the international circuit, including several first-round exits, affected his campaign.
The Hylo Open triumph therefore comes as an important confidence boost for the Indian, who will look to carry this momentum into the remaining tournaments of the 2026 season.
