Lakshya Sen has shown massive improvement in his form with consecutive semi-final appearances in the BWF World Tour.

Lakshya Sen continued his impressive climb in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings, reaching a World No. 13 in the latest update released on Tuesday. This is a significant jump for the Indian shuttler, solidifying his position in the BWF rankings after a good two weeks in Europe. Sen’s ascent comes on the back a string of strong performances as he reached two back-to-back semifinals at the French Open and the prestigious All England Open.

The 22-year-old from Almora, India, has been impressive with his aggressive style of play and powerful smashes in the last two weeks. He started the year on a low note having lost the opening round of both the Malaysia and India Open. Then with the help of Prakash Padukone (the first Indian shuttler to win a medal at the world championships), Lakshya changed his gear and is looking in great touch.

Sen’s rise is a positive sign for Indian badminton especially with the Paris Olympics around the corner and concerns around the Indian No. 1, HS Prannoy, is struggling with his form. He will next be in action at the Swiss Open, which begins on March 19.

Among the current Indian men’s singles players, World Championships bronze medalist HS Prannoy slipped to the ninth position followed by Kidambi Srikanth who is 27th and Priyanshu, ranked 32nd.

In the women’s singles, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu has a protected ranking of 10 but currently, she is in the 11th position.
