Top seed Wang Zhi Yi will be defending her title at Malaysia Masters 2025.

The 2025 edition of the BWF Malaysia Masters will get underway from May 20, with matches set to take place at the Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The BWF Super 500 will mark the 16th edition of the badminton tournament and will run till May 25.

Viktor Axelsen and Wang Zhiyi are the defending singles champions but only Wang will return to defend her title as Axelsen is still recovering from surgery. But Wang will stiff competition from the likes of Chen Yufei and Akane Yamaguchi who are the other top seeds in the category.

From the Indian perspective, HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu are the prominent names competing in the BWF Super 500 tournament. With Lakshya Sen missing, playing onus is on these two to perform well. There are other players such as Rakshitha Ramraj, Anupama Upadhyaya, Malvika Bansod, Aakarshi Kashyap, and Unnati Hooda in women’s singles. In the mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto are among the top Indian names.

However, India’s star pair Satwik-Chirag will still not be competing. They last participated in the All England Open in March.
