Home favourite Lee Zii Jia set to miss Malaysia Masters.

Olympic silver medalist Kunlavut Vitidsarn headlines a notable list of withdrawals from the Malaysia Masters 2025, set to take place from May 20 to 25 at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur.

Vitidsarn’s absence in the men’s singles category is a significant blow to the tournament, which also sees the withdrawal of India’s Kiran George and Malaysia’s Cheam June Wei. At the same time, Viktor Axelsen and Lee Zii Jia have yet to return to the tour.

In the women’s singles category, the most prominent withdrawal is An Se Young, the reigning Olympic Champion, who was anticipated to be the top seed. She is joined by compatriot Kim Ga Eun and India’s rising talents Anupama Upadhyaya and Rakshitha Sree, along with Thailand’s Lalinrat Chaiwan.

The doubles events have also been impacted significantly. World Champions Seo Seung Jae and Kim Won Ho lead the men’s doubles withdrawals, along with India’s top pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. In the women’s doubles, top Korean duo Lee So Hee and Baek Ha Na, and India’s Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela have also pulled out.
