BWF Taipei Open 2026: All you need to know about prize money & points on offer

The total prize pool of the BWF Taipei Open 2026 is US$240,000.

The BWF Taipei Open 2026 is currently underway as a Super 300 event on the BWF World Tour, offering valuable ranking points and prize money for players looking to build momentum through the season.

The tournament has seen home favourites make their mark, with top seeds Chou Tien-chen and Lin Chun-yi both progressing to the quarterfinals in men’s singles. Lin’s run has been particularly impressive, having defeated Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the Round of 16.

In women’s singles, top seeds Chiu Pin-chian and Lin Hsiang-Ti have also booked their spots in the quarterfinals, keeping alive hopes of a strong Chinese Taipei showing on home soil.

India’s campaign has been the standout story of the tournament so far, with a strong contingent progressing to the quarterfinals across categories. In women’s singles, India boasts three players in the last eight, with Devika Sihag, Unnati Hooda, and Tanvi Sharma all advancing.

The quarterfinal draw has thrown up an intriguing all-India clash, with third seed Unnati Hooda set to face eighth seed Devika Sihag, who reached the semifinals at the US Open earlier this season. Meanwhile, Tanvi Sharma will take on fourth seed Supanida Katethong for a place in the semis.

In men’s singles, Kiran George remains India’s lone representative in the quarterfinals and faces a stern test against fourth seed Yudai Okimoto of Japan. However, it was a disappointing outing for seventh seed HS Prannoy, who suffered a straight-games defeat to Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan 21-9, 21-19, ending his campaign in Taipei earlier than expected.

With the BWF World Championships in New Delhi just weeks away, several players will be using this tournament as a final tune-up before the sport’s biggest individual event gets underway on August 17.

With crucial ranking points and prize money on offer, the business end of the tournament promises to be a fiercely competitive affair across all categories.

BWF Taipei Open 2026: Points on offer

As mentioned above, points are awarded in accordance with the rules for all Super 300 events. The winner will receive 7,000 points, while the runner-up will receive 5,950 points.

Players reaching the semi-finals will receive 4,900 points, while players losing in the quarter-finals will receive 3,850 points.

Moreover, a Round of 16 finish assures a player/pair 2,750 points; a Round of 32 exit earns 1,670 points, while a Round of 64 and Round of 128 finish fetch 660 and 320 points, respectively.

BWF Taipei Open 2026: Prize pool

According to BWF rules, the total prize pool for the Taipei Open 2026 is USD 240,000. The winners in both singles categories will receive USD 18,000, while their counterparts in the doubles events will get USD 18,960.

The finalists in the singles categories will pocket USD 9,120, while doubles finalists will also receive USD 9,120. The losing semi-finalists in singles will take home USD 3,480, while those in doubles will receive USD 3,360.

In individual events, USD 1,440 has been allocated for players who lose in the quarter-finals, while those who lose in the doubles category will receive USD 1,740.

For a Last 16 finish, the sum on offer in the singles sections is USD 840, while the pairings in the three doubles categories will pocket USD 900.
