The former World champion after having a shaky start in the opening game, swiftly eased past her opponent 21-15. In the second game, Sindhu made easy work of the Japanese opponent as she comfortably won the game and the match 21-15, 21-7. With this win, Sindhu also reached her first Super 500 tournament final in four years.

The men’s singles saw scintillating battles on the semi-final day. Olympic bronze medalist Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia defeated reigning World champion and home favourite Loh Kean Yew

The Singaporean shuttler was in the quest to become the first home player in 60 years in the men’s singles category to reach the final. However, his journey was cut short by the Olympic bronze medallist as he lost the match 17-21, 14-21.

Later in the day, Japanese youngster Kodai Naraoka reached the first Super 500 event final of his career by defeating Zhao Jun Peng of China 21-18, 25-23. Naraoka will now face Anthony Ginting in the final.
