Satwik-Chirag are yet to win a title this season.
India’s top men’s doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, have climbed to World No.6 in the latest BWF Rankings released on Tuesday (September 23). The pair, who finished as runners-up at the China Masters last week, have skipped the ongoing Korea Open 2025.
They were beaten by World No.1 Korea duo, Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, in the men’s doubles final last week, going down 19-21, 15-21 in 45 minutes.
This was after Satwik-Chirag had also finished as runners-up at the Hong Kong Open a week before. In Kowloon, the Indian duo lost against Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang of China in three games (21-19, 14-21, 17-21).
While consecutive runners-up finishes have left the pair still searching for their first title since May 2024 when they won the Thailand Open, Satwik-Chirag are back in the top six in men’s doubles rankings. Korea’s Kim-Seo continue to occupy the No.1 position in men’s doubles.

Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen, who skipped the Korea Open, dropped one place to WR-18 in men’s singles in the latest ranking update. Sen finished as runner-up in Hong Kong, but was knocked out in the opening rouns in China.
Compatriot, HS Prannoy also suffered a drop in his position in the latest rankings. Prannoy, whose season has been hampered by injury-induced breaks and early exits, retired mid-game in his opening round match at the Korea Open 2025 yesterday. India’s campaign in the BWF Super 500 event ended in the opening round itself.
In women’s singles, PV Sindhu continues to remain India’s top-ranked player a challenging season. She climbed up to WR-13 in the latest update.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, who remain out of action due to Gayatri’s injury, hold onto their position as the top-ranked women’s doubles pair from India while in mixed doubles Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto moved up once place to 16th.
Meanwhile, for Satwik-Chirag, attention now shifts to Europe, where two major tournaments await. The are expected to compete at both Denmark Open and French Open.
With two runner-up finishes already this season, the duo will be eager to finally break the jinx and lift a long-awaited title.
