Badminton Asia Team Championships 2026: Updated schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details

India are the defending champions in the women’s category.

After the conclusion of the Thailand Masters 2026, badminton action resumes with the Badminton Asia Team Championships 2026. The tournament will commence on February 3 and conclude on February 8, with matches scheduled at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium in Qingdao, China.

The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2026 will also serve as the Asian qualification event for the 2026 Thomas & Uber Cup, scheduled to be held in Horsens, Denmark.

Unlike the mixed team format, this edition features separate men’s and women’s team competitions, with China defending the men’s title and India defending the women’s crown from the 2024 edition.

It is the sixth edition of the biennial tournament that determines the top male and female national badminton teams in Asia. The previous edition in 2024 saw India capture their first-ever women’s team championship, marking a historic achievement for Indian badminton.

Format and Groups

The 2026 edition features separate men’s and women’s team competitions, with teams divided into four groups each. The draw was held on January 9, 2026.

Men’s Team Seedings: China (1), Indonesia (2), Chinese Taipei (3), Japan (4)

Women’s Team Seedings: China (1), South Korea (2), Japan (3), Thailand (4)

  • Group W: China (1, H), Malaysia
  • Group X: Japan (3), Indonesia, Hong Kong
  • Group Y: Thailand (4), India, Myanmar
  • Group Z: South Korea (2), Chinese Taipei, Singapore

Each team will compete against others in their group in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout quarterfinals.

In the men’s competition, Groups A, B, and C consist of three teams each, while Group D has three teams. In the women’s competition, Groups W and Y have two teams each, while Groups X and Z have three teams.

Match Format:

Each tie consists of five matches across different disciplines. For the men’s category, ties include two men’s singles matches, one men’s doubles match, and two additional singles matches.

For the women’s category, ties feature two women’s singles matches, one women’s doubles match, and two additional singles matches. The first team to win three matches wins the tie.

In the group stage, all five matches are played regardless of the result to determine tiebreakers if needed. In the knockout stage, the tie concludes once a team secures three match victories.

Tie-Breaker Rules

Team rankings within groups are determined by the following criteria in order: number of wins, match difference, game difference, and points difference.

If two teams remain tied after applying all criteria, the winner of the head-to-head match between them is ranked higher. A draw will be held if teams are still tied after exhausting all criteria.
