Home favourite Akane Yamaguchi is the top seed in women’s singles.

The BWF Japan Masters 2025 is set to bring world-class badminton action to Japan from November 11 to 16 at the Kumamoto Prefectural Gymnasium.

A Super 500 event, it has a prize pool of USD 475,000 and serves as one of the final opportunities for players to secure crucial ranking points ahead of the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals in December.

The tournament will feature a strong mix of stars and emerging players across all five categories. The men’s singles draw is headlined by Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn, the top seed, while Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi leads the women’s singles field as both top seed and defending champion.

India will have notable representation with Lakshya Sen seeded seventh in men’s singles, alongside Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kiran George, and Tharun Mannepalli. Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will represent India in mixed doubles.

Malaysia fields a formidable contingent led by Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin (seeded second) in men’s doubles and Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan as top seeds in women’s doubles. Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew will enter as the third seed in men’s singles.

Japan will have strong home representation across all categories, with multiple seeded players including Kodai Naraoka, Kenta Nishimoto, Tomoka Miyazaki, and several top doubles pairs looking to capitalize on crowd support.
