Tanvi Patri prevailed in an all-Indian final at Chengdu

India’s Tanvi Patri won the U17 girls’ singles crown at the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championships 2026 in Chengdu, China, on Sunday. She defeated compatriot Shaina Manimuthu 11-15, 15-10, 15-12 in an all-Indian final to claim the continental title.

Second seed Patri began the campaign in China with a bye before narrowly edging China’s Zhou Jing Li 18-16, 12-15, 15-13. She then secured straight-game wins over Japan’s Shizuku Kashio (15-9, 15-12) and China’s Lin Heng Men (15-8, 15-8).

Patri showed immense mental strength to edge past China’s Yu Ying Gui in the semi-finals, winning 15-9, 11-15, 15-11 to set up an all-Indian final. With victory over Manimuthu, she has added yet another title to her tally this year.

Manimuthu, the sixth seed, settled for silver. Stunningly, India have retained their U17 girls’ singles crown, which Diksha Sudhakar won in 2025.
