No Indian shuttler have made it to the BWF World Championships 2025 final.
The BWF World Championships 2025 will conclude in Paris on Sunday, August 31, with the finals set to decide the winners of five categories. This time, no Indian players have made it to the title matches.
Men’s singles World No. 1 Shi Yu Qi of China who started his campaign with victory over the Indian sensation Lakshya Sen in first round had to dig deep in his semi-final against Canada’s Victor Lai 13-21, 22-20, 21-16.
The Chinese top star will now face the defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the summit clash looking for his first world title since 2018. The Thai shuttler booked his spot in the finals with an easy win over Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, 21-17, 21-15.
In the men’s doubles event, Korea’s Seo and Kim, fresh off their 2025 All England Open win, made it to the final. They clinched a straight-games victory in their semi-final against Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, winning 21-12, 21-3.

The Koreans doubles duo will now take on the Chinese pair of Liu and Chen who pulled off a great comeback in their semi-final against the tough Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, winning in three games, 21-19, 18-21, 21-12.
Meanwhile, the women’s singles finals promises a thrilling battle between the two absolute powerhouses of the sport, Chen Yufei and Akane Yamaguchi.
The 27-year-old of China Chen Yufei, despite battling an ankle injury, managed to take down the top seed, reigning Olympic champion An Se Young in the semi-finals with a convincing 2-0 win (21-15, 21-17).
On the other hand, the two-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi of Japan is coming on the back of a hard fought three-game 21-17, 14-21, 21-6 win over the Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani.

The women’s doubles event will witness China’s top-seeded pair of Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning up against the history makers of Malaysia Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan.
The Chinese duo were incredibly strong in their semi-final sealing a comfortable win over Japan’s Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi in straight games, 21-15, 21-4.
However, the Malaysians rallied from behind to beat Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida 14-21, 21-13, 21-12, becoming the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to ever reach the world championship final.
Malaysia broke new ground in mixed doubles as well, as the pair of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei became the country’s first-ever finalists in the category. They defeated France’s Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue 21-18, 21-16 in the semifinals.
Awaiting them in the final are China’s Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin, who edged out compatriots Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui in a three-game thriller, 21-11, 21-23, 21-18.
