The Hong Kong Open 2025 finals will be held on September 14, Sunday at the Hong Kong Coliseum and this time, two Indian contenders will be vying for titles: Lakshya Sen in men’s singles and the world No. 9 duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in men’s doubles.

Sen, India’s top-ranked men’s singles shuttler, booked his first BWF 500 final after two years. He defeated Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen in the semi-finals with a score of 23-21, 22-20. The 23-year-old will now face China’s Li Shifeng, who advanced with a hard-fought win over France’s Christo Popov.

In men’s doubles, the World No.9 pair of Satwik-Chirag finally broke their semi-final curse, defeating the Chinese Taipei duo of Lin Bing-Wei and Chen Cheng-Kuan 21-17, 21-15 to reach their first final of the season.

Now the Indian pair will take on Paris Olympics silver medallists Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China in the title clash.

“Finals, finally. It’s been seven semi-finals since China Open last year. We’ve been constantly playing semi-finals and I think we really wanted to play a final. It’s been a while,” Chirag said after the win.

The last final that the top Indian men’s doubles pair played was the Thailand Open 2024 in May, before the Olympics. “We really wanted to do well here and I think we’re really happy. Still one more match to go, but overall it’s been a good final,” Shetty added.
