This is the 42nd edition of the Japan Open, first held in 1977.

The BWF Japan Open 2025 is highly anticipated as it begins on July 15. A BWF Super 750 event, it offers a prize pool of USD 950,000 and will be held at the renowned Yokohama Arena in Tokyo.

The men’s singles draw is headlined by World Champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn, joined by top contenders like Anders Antonsen and Shi Yuqi. In women’s singles, World No. 1 An Se-young leads a strong lineup featuring Chen Yufei, Akane Yamaguchi, and Han Yue.

Kenta Nishimoto, who is coming off a fresh win at the Canada Open earlier this month, will be a home favourite aiming for a deep run at the Japan Open. Meanwhile, Chou Tien-chen will be looking to rediscover his form after back-to-back semifinal exits at the US Open and Canada Open.
