Asian Games 2023 5x5 Basketball: Indian women's crash out after quarterfinals defeat to North Korea

India recorded a decent run by advancing to the quarters.
The highly anticipated Women’s Basketball 5×5 match at the Asian Games 2023 between India and North Korea delivered an extraordinary display of skill and athleticism. North Korea emerged victorious with a resounding final score of 96-57, demonstrating their complete dominance over the Indian basketball team.
The game kicked off with tremendous excitement, and North Korea swiftly established its authority on the court. Sanjana Ramesh from India started the scoring with a confident two-pointer. Anmol Preet added to the Indian tally with a two-pointer of her own. Senthil Kumar showcased her prowess by securing a crucial defensive rebound for India.
However, North Korea’s RI Unjong missed a three-point shot, allowing India to catch their breath briefly. Nonetheless, North Korea decided to regroup by calling a timeout. As the second quarter commenced, Madhu Kumari of India ignited her team’s spirits with a remarkable three-point shot. North Korea’s PAK Jina confidently sank a free throw, widening the gap in favor of the DPRK. Anmolpreet drew a foul, resulting in valuable free throws for India.
PAK Jina continued to be a force for North Korea, securing an offensive rebound. India’s Madhu Kumari then demonstrated her shooting prowess with another three-pointer. The third quarter saw HONG Ryona of North Korea showcasing her accuracy from beyond the arc with a well-executed three-point shot. In response, CHATURVEDI Poonam made a critical two-pointer for India. DPR Korea took a timeout during this period to discuss strategy.

However, North Korea’s Kim Soyon secured a defensive rebound, emphasizing their prowess in controlling the paint. The match eventually concluded with North Korea emerging as the undisputed victors, ensuring a comprehensive win with a final score of 96-57.
