FIBA Asia Cup 2025: Defending champions Australia, 11 more teams advance to tournament finals

Twelve out of the 16 spots are now filled for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
Five more teams have secured their places for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 as Window 3 of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers ended on Monday night. Korea, China, Iran, Qatar, and Syria are advancing after succeeding in their respective groups during the recently concluded qualifying phase.
With this, all 12 direct tickets to the Asia Cup from the Qualifiers have been booked. Reigning two-time champions Australia, Philippines, New Zealand, Japan, Jordan, and Lebanon qualified during Window 2 last November.
Saudi Arabia qualified by being the host of FIBA’s flagship event in Asia to be played in Jeddah from Aug 5-17, 2025.
Australia, Lebanon, and Jordan, the top three teams of the last FIBA Asia Cup in 2022 in Indonesia, finished the Qualifiers unbeaten after sweeping all six of their games. A total of 16 teams from Asia and Oceania are set to compete in Jeddah, with the four remaining slots to be determined through the Qualifying Tournament for Third-Place Teams.

The six teams who finished third in their group will compete in a qualifying tournament for third-place teams for one last attempt to reach the tournament. The teams are Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Guam, Iraq, India, and Bahrain.
Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Guam will play in a round-robin tournament as will Iraq, India, and Bahrain in a similar tournament, with the top two teams from each tournament making it to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
More details about the Qualifying Tournament for Third-Place Teams will be announced soon.

Australia, China, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, New Zealand, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.
