Group B: Japan, Iran, Guam, Syria

Group B of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 includes Japan, Iran, Guam, and Syria.  The Japanese team hasn’t had a podium finish since 1997, but is expected to shine this season, following a successful outing in the Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Iran won three titles from 2007 to 2013 and are expected to be the top team in the group. Guam are making their first-ever appearance in the tournament, while Syria finished 12th and 10th respectively in the last two editions, and nothing extraordinary is expected from them.

Group C: India, China, Saudi Arabia, Jordan

India are placed alongside China, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in Group C. With a 16th-place finish in 2022 and no medals so far in the tournament, the Indian team is not expected to achieve a first-place finish.

After two rounds of matches each, India are at the bottom of the standings—winless and with just two points. Their chances of reaching the knockout round looks slim and they must beat the hosts Saudi by a big margin in their last group match to secure a place inside the top three.

Although China finished eighth in the 2022 edition, they are the most successful team in the competition history with 16 titles. They sit comfortably atop the group after two wins from their opening two matches and need to just defeat Jordan in their final group match to secure direct path to quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Jordan share the second and third spots respectively, with both having won and lost a match each in their opening two rounds.
