India are among the 16 participating nations in the upcoming edition of the FIBA Asia Cup.

India are among the 16 participating nations in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to take place from August 5 to 17 at the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This will be the first edition of the prestigious continental tournament since 2022. Australia are the defending champions, having narrowly defeated Lebanon 75-73 in the previous final.

The Indian men’s basketball team are pitted in Group C alongside China, Jordan, and hosts Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Group A consists of Qatar, Australia, South Korea, and Lebanon. Guam, Japan, Syria, and Iran form Group B, while Group D includes Chinese Taipei, New Zealand, Iraq, and the Philippines.

Each team will play three matches in the group stage. The top team from each group will directly advance to the quarter-finals. Teams finishing second and third in their respective groups will compete in the playoff round for the remaining quarter-final spots.

Notably, India registered their finest performance in the 1975 edition in Thailand, finishing fourth with five wins in eight matches. In the last edition of this basketball tournament, they finished 16th after losing all three games.
