Kothari won six out of nine frames against the reigning IBSF world champion.

Sourav Kothari, who lost to Pankaj Advani in the world billiards final last month, got his revenge by defeating him in the 15-Red snooker’s Round of 32 match in the National Billiards and Snooker Championships on Friday. Kothari won six out of nine frames against the reigning IBSF world champion. Kothari Prevailed 64-50, 62-33, 23-51, 80-56, 84-34, 70-16.

Advani had also failed to reach the final of the 6-Red snooker event last week, where he finished fourth. Kamal Chawla, the defending champion of the 15-Red snooker event, beat Luv Kukreja 5-2 to enter the pre-quarterfinals.

He was joined by his RSPB teammate Md Hussain, who stunned Sparsh Pherwani, the runner-up of last year. Shahbaaz Khan also impressed by eliminating Brijesh Damani, who was a semi-finalist last year. In the women’s billiards event, Anupama Ramachandran of Tamil Nadu came back from 0-2 down to beat Amee Kamani of Madhya Pradesh 3-2 in the final.

Anupama, who had lost to Amee in both the 6-Red and 15-Red snooker finals, won her first senior National title. She prevented Amee from repeating her 2017 feat of winning all three events.
