Global Chess League 2025: Live streaming, TV channel, where & how to watch?

India is hosting the Global Chess League 2025 for the first time.

The upcoming edition of the Global Chess League 2025 will take place from December 14 to 23 at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai. The third edition of the tournament will be the first time it will be staged in India, after Dubai and London hosted the first and second editions, respectively.

The Global Chess League was first played in Dubai in 2023, where the Triveni Continental Kings lifted the trophy. UpGrad Mumbai Masters went down fighting in a thrilling final to finish as the runner-up.

Meanwhile, the Triveni Continental Kings defended their title in the 2024 edition in London, defeating the PBG Alaskan Knights.

The third season will witness six teams compete for the silverware. American Gambits, Triveni Continental Kings, Alpine SG Pipers, PBG Alaskan Knights, Ganges Grandmasters, and upGrad Mumbai Masters are the six franchises in the competition.

The league stage follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing the other five teams twice, resulting in 10 matches per team.

In every fixture, six boards are in action at the same time, and the outcomes of these individual games contribute to the overall game points that determine the match result.

Once the league stage concludes, the top two teams on the table advance straight to the final, while teams finishing third and fourth contest a playoff for third place.

The final itself is decided over two matches, with the champion crowned based on total game points. In the event of a tie, the title is settled through a blitz tie-break.
