CWG 2026: India complete clean sweep in boxing semi-finals, all 10 boxers advance to finals

India produced a sensational performance in the boxing ring at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, winning all 10 of their semi-final bouts on Friday and the early hours of Saturday to secure 10 spots in the gold-medal bouts.
The clean sweep was completed by Narender Berwal, who defeated Trinidad and Tobago’s Nigel Paul in the men’s 90 kg semi-final in the final boxing bout of the day. The Indian contingent thus ended the day with a perfect 10-0 record in the semi-finals.
Preeti Pawar got India’s campaign off to a winning start in the women’s 54 kg category, defeating Zambia’s Catherine Mwape 5-0 to book her place in the final. She was followed by Ankush Panghal, who secured a 5-0 victory over Canada’s Joshua Ofori in the men’s 80 kg semi-final.
Jaismine Lamboria continued India’s winning run in the women’s 57 kg category. The Indian boxer defeated Lesotho’s Rapelang Maselela via referee stoppage (RSC) after three standing counts against her opponent.
Arundhati Choudhary then defeated Wales’ Rosie Eccles in the women’s 70 kg semi-final to make it four wins from four for India. Jadumani Singh Mandengbam made it five when he overcame Namibia’s Philip Haoseb in the men’s 55 kg semi-final.
The winning streak continued into the late-night session. Sakshi Choudhary defeated Canada’s Amber-Jane Wall in the women’s 51 kg semi-final, ensuring India had six boxers through to the finals.
Priya Ghanghas then edged past England’s Lucy Kings-Wheatley in the women’s 60 kg semi-final. After splitting the opening two rounds, Ghanghas produced a strong final round to secure her place in the gold-medal bout.

Lovlina Borgohain followed with a victory over Tuvalu’s Tarona Khanum in the women’s 75 kg semi-final, becoming India’s eighth boxer to advance to the final.
Sachin Siwach then defeated Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan in the men’s 60kg semi-final to make it nine wins from nine for the Indian boxing contingent.
Narender Berwal completed the historic clean sweep in the final bout of the day. He defeated Nigel Paul by a unanimous verdict in the men’s 90kg semi-final, taking India’s tally to 10 wins from 10 semi-finals.
