Lovlina Borgohain and other boxers will compete for gold on Saturday

Indian athletes will compete to add more medals to their tally on Day 9 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, on August 1. The country currently sits 10th in the standings with 23 medals – five golds, 12 silvers, and six bronzes.

The Indian contingent will have one of its most action-packed days of the Games on Saturday. The morning session will begin with para-athletes Shubham Juyal and Soman Rana competing for medals in the men’s shot put F57 final. Ramesh Shanmugam will compete in the men’s 1500m T54 final.

Two-time Olympian Priyanka Goswami will compete in the women’s 10,000m race walk final along with Ravina Gaikwad. Goswami, a Birmingham 2022 silver medallist, will aim to clinch India’s first CWG gold in race walking.

Several members of the boxing contingent will compete in the final rounds in their respective events. Lovlina Borgohain is one of the many star pugilists chasing their maiden CWG medal at the Glasgow Games. India’s judokas will continue their push for a medal in the round of 16 and quarter-final bouts.

Meanwhile, Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu will take part in the men’s triple jump final, looking to improve upon Eldhose Paul’s gold from Birmingham 2022.

More athletes will take part in athletics medal rounds, including the men’s pole vault, the 5000m final, and the mixed 4x400m relay.
