India will have the opportunity to add at least five medals to their tally

2:00 pm: Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live blog for Day 10 of Commonwealth Games 2026. Please wait for the blog to load!

The Commonwealth Games 2026 has reached its business end, with Day 10 – the final day of the event – taking place on Sunday, August 2. Indian athletes have been exemplary throughout the tournament, sitting in sixth place in the overall medal standings.

The country has won 30 medals so far, including eight golds, 15 silvers, and seven bronzes. Boxing and weightlifting have been, by far, the most productive sports for the Indian contingent, while the athletics and para-athletics squad members have also shone with groundbreaking achievements.

On the final day, India’s campaign will rely squarely on one sport: judo. The Indian judokas have already been exceptional in the Glasgow Games, with both Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh clinching golds in the women’s 48 kg and men’s 60 kg events, respectively.

Yamini Mourya added a third, winning silver in the women’s 57 kg event.

Three more judokas can add to this medal tally on Sunday. The campaign will begin in the afternoon, with 19-year-old Ishroop Narang facing Scotland’s Nicole Wood in the women’s -78 kg Round of 16.

Already ranked inside the world’s top 75 seniors, Narang will look to make a winning start to her Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign.

Minutes later, veteran judoka Avtar Singh will face Cyprus’ Ariston Michael in the men’s -100 kg Round of 16. The 34-year-old has represented India at the Olympics and the CWG, and will look to add a maiden title in the latter on Sunday.

Later, rising star Yash Ghanghas will make his CWG debut in the men’s +100 kg Round of 16 against Wales’s Joshua Whitehouse.

At just 23 years old, Ghanghas represents one of the brightest up-and-coming prospects in Indian judo, having already won a Junior Asian Championships silver in 2023.

Regrettably, both Nayanmoni Saikia and the Indian men’s pairs team failed to qualify for the lawn bowls semi-finals, missing out on two medal opportunities in that sport.
