Australia crossed the 150-mark; England entered triple digits on Day 9

The Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow featured 44 medal events on Day 9, across various disciplines such as athletics, para-athletics, boxing, track cycling, para-track cycling, and judo.

India enjoyed their best day across sports on Day 9. The day commenced with incredible news from shot put, as India won both gold and silver medals in the same event, thanks to Soman Rana and Shubham Juyal.

Shortly after, men’s triple jump replicated the previous night’s javelin throw heroics, with two Indians winning silver and bronze in the same event.

The focus then shifted to the highly anticipated boxing bouts. Of the 10 boxers in action, seven clinched gold medals, while three suffered defeats and had to settle for silver. Meanwhile, after three medals in judo on Day 8, Unnati Sharma won bronze in the women’s 63kg category on Saturday.

In lawn bowls, unfortunately, the Indian men’s team, who had registered four straight wins previously, suffered a heartbreaking loss against England to bow out of the competition.

Updated medal tally after August 1 at Commonwealth Games 2026

Australia further tightened its grip on the top, leading with 65 gold, 41 silver and 52 bronze medals (158 overall). India produced a sensational surge, climbing from 10th to fourth after adding eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals.

Australia kept flexing its cycling muscle, with Leigh Hoffman taking gold in the men’s sprint and Henry Hobbs following it up in the men’s 10km scratch race. On the athletics side, Kurtis Marschall wrapped things up with a Commonwealth Games record in the pole vault.

But the loudest roar of the night probably came for Scotland’s Josh Kerr, who won the country’s first men’s mile title in 60 years. Melanie Woods added to Scotland’s evening too, picking up her second gold of the Games in the women’s T54 400m.

Jamaica, meanwhile, was simply on fire in the athletics arena. They swept up gold in the mixed 4x400m relay, the women’s 4x100m relay, and then Navasky Anderson sealed a third with victory in the men’s 800m.

England had plenty to celebrate as well, spread across several sports. Jazmin Sawyers won the women’s long jump, judo brought golds for Kelly Petersen-Pollard and Ethan Nairne, and Damar Thomas rounded things off with a win in the men’s +90kg boxing final.

Wales stayed strong on the track, with Emma Finucane smashing the Games record in the women’s 1000m time trial before Anna Morris added another gold in the points race.

Elsewhere, Canada’s Laurence Biron claimed the women’s 63kg judo title, and Mauritius had a night to remember as Remi Feuillet delivered the country’s first-ever gold of the Games in the men’s 90kg judo.
