Commonwealth Games 2026: India’s updated schedule for Day 3 (July 26)

Mirabai Chanu will be India’s biggest medal hope on Sunday

India’s campaign so far at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 has been bittersweet, as the contingent has recorded some key victories along with a few setbacks.

In lawn bowls, the women’s pairs duo of Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh secured a thrilling win over Tonga in sectional play by holding their nerve in the tiebreaks.

Over in the boxing ring, Sachin Siwach put on a strong display in the men’s 60kg Round of 32, defeating Canada’s Keoma Al-Ahmadieh to advance to the next round.

However, results were hard to come by in other events. In the men’s 400m freestyle heats, Dhakshan Shashikumar finished seventh in Heat 3, while Aryan Nehra placed eighth in Heat 4. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball team suffered a heavy 16-1 defeat against Wales in their group match.

India had already opened their medal account on Friday through Jhandu Kumar’s bronze in the men’s heavyweight para powerlifting event.

Pugilist Lovlina Borgohain is also assured of at least a bronze medal after receiving a bye straight into the semi-finals.
