Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ben Stokes has already pulled out of IPL 2024.

The preparations for the 17th edition of Indian Premier League have begun. The last date to submit the sheets for retained and released players is November 26, and before that, all ten teams will have to decide which players they want to stick with for IPL 2024.

One of the biggest buys of the last auction, Ben Stokes, whom Chennai Super Kings signed for a price of INR 16.25 crores, has decided to withdraw from the coming season. Hence, CSK will have a good amount to spend on the coming IPL 2024 auction in December. Here we will talk about some five such players whom their IPL teams signed for more than 10 crores who can be released ahead of IPL 2024 auction.

Here are the five players with a value of over 10 crores who might be released ahead of the IPL 2024 auction

5. Shardul Thakur (KKR) – INR 10.75 Crores :

Sharduk Thakur didn’t have a great IPL 2023 for Kolkata Knight Riders. He was traded from Delhi Capitals to KKR for a price of INR 10.75 crores. Shardul played 11 matches, scored 113 runs, and took only 7 wickets with the ball. These are some below-par stats, and he was also dropped in a few games, which indicates that KKR might release him this season.

4. Lockie Ferguson (KKR) – INR 10 Crores :

KKR were the only team in the last season with five players worth INR 10 crores or more. Lockie Ferguson was one of those for whom the franchise paid INR 10 crores for the season. But they couldn’t use him properly. Ferguson played only three matches and took only one wicket, and given his recent form, it looks that KKR might release him ahead of IPL 2024 auction.

3. Harshal Patel (RCB) – INR 10.75 Crores :

Harshal Patel’s form has declined in the last couple of years or so. He lost his place in the shorter format for India, and even his numbers in IPL 2023 were horrible. He played 13 games and took 14 wickets at an economy rate of 9.66. Harshal’s slower ones have become predictable now. With a price of INR 10.75 crores, he might face an axe. RCB have the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood, Akash Deep, Wayne Parnell, and some other options to choose from.

2. Harry Brook (SRH) – INR 13.25 Crores :

There was a huge noise when Sunrisers Hyderabad picked up Harry Brook at a huge price of INR 13.25 crores. But it didn’t pay off, and that move totally backfired on them. Brook’s dismissal performance was one of the reasons for their failure. They let go of Kane Williamson, which was another blunder. Brook played 11 games and scored only 190 runs. So if he gets released, it will be pretty understandable.

1. Sam Curran (PBKS) – INR 18.5 Crores :

Sam Curran made history in the last auction when he was signed for a record-breaking value of INR 18.5 crores by Punjab Kings. He was the most expensive player to be signed in any cricket league in history. But did he pay that value off? Actually not. Curran was average with his performance, which didn’t help PBKS. In 14 games of the last season, he scored 276 runs at an average of 27.60 and took 10 wickets at an economy rate of 10.22. So there is a solid reason that PBKS might release him and buy him again at the auction for a cheaper price.
