Three countries which can host IPL 2024 if the tournament gets moved out of India due to General Elections

IPL 2024 can be played outside India due to General Elections next year.
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League saw immense growth in viewership, and it broke all the previous records. The Chennai Super Kings ended up winning the tournament, beating the Gujarat Titans in the final of the tournament. CSK won their fifth title, equaling the Mumbai Indians with the most IPL championships. India are hosting the ICC Cricket World Cup, which is scheduled to take place between October and November. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is busy with all the arrangements.
However, they will have to arrange another big tournament next year, which will be the IPL 2024. But as the 2024 T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the US starting in the first week of June, the IPL can’t finish by the end of May. Because it won’t give players much time who are playing both tournaments. On the other hand, with the 2024 elections coming up in India, there could be a possible shift in the location of the IPL 2024, and we might see it played outside India just like in 2009. So here we will talk about three possible countries that can host the IPL 2024.
Notably, in 2014 as well, the first half of the IPL was held in UAE due to elections. However, in the 2019 elections, the security was managed properly, which helped the BCCI host the 2019 edition successfully in India. But some media reports are claiming that in 2024, there are chances that the IPL will take place outside India due to security reasons.
Here are three nations that can host the IPL 2024 if it moves outside India.
1. United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates has always been a go-through option for the BCCI if they need to schedule any of the tournaments. The first time the IPL was played in the UAE was in 2014, when they hosted the first half of the tournament due to general elections in India, and the second half was played in India. Then as seen in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the first half of the tournament took place in India, while the second leg of the tournament was shifted to the UAE. That’s not it; the 2020 edition entirely took place in the UAE. Thus, if the IPL 2024 shifts away from India, then UAE may be the first place for the BCCI to schedule it.
2. South Africa

The same scenario occurred in 2009 as well. The second edition of the season was moved to South Africa due to elections in India. The dates of the tournament and Lok Sabha elections clashed. As a result, the BCCI and IPL’s governing council shifted it to South Africa, which ended pretty well, and the second edition was a success after an incredible inaugural edition in 2008. And with the same kind of situation in the future, the BCCI can plan to arrange the next season in South Africa.
3. Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka can be a surprise pick for the IPL. Though not many Sri Lankan players are part of the league, the last few seasons have seen top Sri Lankan cricketers get good bucks. On the other hand, as the Asia Cup 2023 was shifted to Sri Lanka, we might see the same with the IPL 2024 as well. That is why Sri Lanka is another good option for the BCCI. It will also help the Sri Lanka Cricket Board and their economy, and India will have better relations with them.
