3 players who can replace Mitchell Marsh in LSG squad if gets ruled out of IPL 2025

LSG acquired Mitchell Marsh for INR 3.4 crores at IPL 2025 mega auction.
Two and a half months before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have been hit with a major blow as star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with a back injury.
The last few months have been tough for the 33-year-old all-rounder. He first lost his place in the Australian test team due to bad form in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 and then missed the last three BBL games for Perth Scorchers.
Marsh is now set to undergo a long-term rehab process. Earlier, he was bought by LSG at the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 3.4 crores as a key option for the top order.
Let’s take a look at the players LSG could consider bringing in if Mitchell Marsh gets ruled out for the season.
Three players who can replace Mitchell Marsh in LSG squad if gets ruled out of IPL 2025:
1. David Warner (AUS)
Perhaps the greatest overseas batsman to play in the IPL, David Warner could be a strong contender to replace his fellow Australian, Marsh. Warner was in excellent form in the recently concluded BBL season, scoring 405 runs in 12 innings and playing a key role in guiding his team to the finals.
In case of his potential arrival, he can also assist Rishabh Pant in the leadership role, given his extensive experience as a T20 captain. The southpaw has scored 6,565 runs in 184 IPL innings at an impressive strike rate of 140. Additionally, he has won the Orange Cap (most runs in a season) thrice.
2. Shardul Thakur (IND)
The last year has been tough for Shardul as he lost his place in the Indian test team and went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, the 33-year-old has made an incredible comeback, scoring a century against Jammu and Kashmir and taking a hat-trick against Meghalaya in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
His potential inclusion would give Lucknow an all-round option. Additionally, his ability to bowl slower balls makes him well-suited for the large dimensions of Ekana Stadium.
3. Mitchell Owen (AUS)
Tasmanian batsman Mitchell Owen has found his name in the limelight with his consistent performances in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 season. He finished as the highest run-scorer in the BBL with 452 runs in 11 innings and was named Player of the Match in the final for scoring 108 runs off 42 balls against Sydney Thunder.
If called up, Owen could make a similar impact for LSG like Jake Fraser-McGurk did for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
