List of bowlers to dismiss father and son duo in Test Cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin became the fifth bowler to dismiss a father-son duo in Test Cricket.
The first game between India and the West Indies is currently underway at Windsor Park in Dominica. The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat first. Ravichandran Ashwin provided India with the first breakthrough when he dismissed opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul for 12 runs.
With this wicket, Ashwin joined an elite list of bowlers who have dismissed father and son duo in Test matches. The veteran off-spinner dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul on his test debut in 2011 in Delhi, and today during his 92nd test match, he dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul's son, Tagenarine Chanderpaul to become only the fifth bowler to take a wicket of a father-son duo in test cricket. For India, he has become the first bowler to achieve this rare feat.
On that note, let's check out the list of bowlers who have dismissed father and son duo in Test cricket.
Here is the list of bowlers to dismiss both father and son in Test Cricket
Ian Botham (ENG) - Lance Cairns and Chris Carins

Former English legend Ian Botham was the first bowler to achieve this special feat. He served England for 16 years, between 1976 and 1992. In ODIs, he first dismissed former Kiwi all-rounder Lance Cairns. However, in his test career, he picked up the wickets of Lance and later his son, Chris Cairns. Botham and Lance played a lot of cricket together, but against Chris, he bowled at the beginning of the 1990s and dismissed him only once in Tests.
Wasim Akram (PAK) - Lance Cairns and Chris Carins

Legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram was another bowler to dismiss Lance Cairns and Chris Carins in international cricket. Lance retired in 1985, and Akram made his debut in 1985. In 1985, Akram dismissed Lance for the only time in Test cricket. Then, ten years later, he dismissed his son Chris in a one-off test match in Christchurch.
Mitchell Starc (AUS) - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul

In 2022, veteran Australian pacer Mitchell Starc became only the third bowler to dismiss a father and son in Test Cricket. Starc dismissed Shivnarine in Tests in 2012. Ten years later, when Tagenarine Chanderpaul made his test debut against Australia in December 2022, Starc dismissed him as well, becoming only the third bowler to dismiss both father and son.
Simon Harmer (SA) - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Veteran South African off-spinner Simon Harmer is another bowler to dismiss the duo of Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul in test cricket. Harmer made his Test debut against the West Indies in January 2015 and dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul in his debut test. Then, in March 2023, he dismissed Tagenarine when the West Indies toured South Africa for two tests.
Ravichandran Ashwin - Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Tagenarine Chanderpaul

Ravichandran Ashwin became the fifth bowler to join this elite list. He made his Test debut against the West Indies in November 2011 and dismissed Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the second inning of this debut test for 47 runs. Later, after 12 years, Ashwin dismissed Tagenarine, most recently in the ongoing test in Dominica, to become only the fifth bowler to make history.
