Here we will talk about the top five players who have earned the highest money per match in the IPL 2023.

It will not be a wrong statement to say that the Indian Premier League is the biggest tournament to take place in the game of cricket. Every cricketer wants to be a part of this league once in his career. It is because every big name takes part in this competition, which is why the level of competition is also very high.

However, there is another reason why a player dreams of playing in the IPL. It is the money involved in it. The IPL gives the best payout to any cricketer as a contract, which is even more than the salary received by a cricket board. The auction held ahead of the 16th edition saw some record-breaking bids made by the IPL franchise. The English all-rounder Sam Curran received a record-breaking deal of INR 18.5 crore from the Punjab Kings, making him the costliest player in the history of the IPL.

Cameron Green (INR 17.5 crore to MI), Ben Stokes (16.25 crore to CSK), Nicholas Pooran (INR 16 crore to LSG) and Harry Brook (INR 13.25 crore to SRH) were among the costliest players. Some of them did well, but others failed. But do you know who earned the most money for playing as a per-match fee? In this article, we will discuss the top five players who earned a huge price as per match fee in the IPL 2023.

Top five players with highest per-match fee in IPL 2023:

Hailing from Chennai, R Sai Kishore is a left-arm orthodox spinner who was picked by the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 at a price of INR 3 crore. The Southpaw played five games for GT and picked up six wickets at an economy rate of 7.56. He was retained by Gujarat but didn't get a chance to play even a single game this season. It meant that he got 3 crore for just warming the bench in the 16th edition.

4. Dewald Brevis - 3 Crores (0 Matches)

Famously known as "Baby AB," the 20-year-old uncapped South African star Dewald Brevis impressed everyone with his batting style and hitting ability. Brevis made his IPL debut for the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022. He was signed by MI at a price of INR 3 crore. He played seven games and scored 161 runs at a strike rate of 142.48. MI retained him for the 16th edition but he didn't play any game. He earned INR 3 crore in the IPL 2023 without playing any matches.

Lockie Ferguson was traded to Kolkata Knight Riders from Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2023 auction for a price of INR 10 crore. The Kiwi speedster played three games in the 16th edition, picking up only one wicket at an economy rate of 12.52. He was part of the GT setup in 2022, that won the IPL. Many believe that Ferguson was underused by the KKR in 2023. The man who bowled the fastest delivery in the IPL 2022 with a speed of 157.3 km/ph, played only three games. Nevertheless, Ferguson played three games and earned 10 crore, which is 3.33 crore per match.

2. Shivam Mavi - 6 Crores (0 Matches):

Indian pacers who can bowl at a speed of 150 km/h are rare. But Shivam Mavi certainly belongs in that league. The 25-year-old made his IPL debut for KKR in 2018, played until the 2022 season, and was later released by the franchise. However, the Gujarat Titans picked up the speedster for INR 6 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. But GT didn't use him at all, and he just warmed the bench in the entire season and earned 6 crore without playing any games.

1. Ben Stokes - 8.12 Crores (2 Matches):

Well, the player that earned the highest match fee in the IPL 2023 is the English test captain Ben Stokes. The all-rounder was the biggest name when he entered the IPL 2023 auction. A number of franchises entered to bidding war to acquire him for their team. But it was Chennai Super Kings that won the bid and signed him for a price of INR 16.25 crore. However, this move didn't go well for them, and due to injury and form, Stokes played only two games in the season. It means he earned INR 8.12 crore per match in the IPL 2023.
