Five players who have played for most number of IPL teams

The first edition of the Indian Premier League was played back in 2008 and since then it has become one of the biggest sports leagues. The IPL has taken the world by storm, which is why every player, irrespective of country, knows the value of getting picked to play in the IPL. This is certainly the biggest platform for a player to get noticed.

The most important part of an IPL season is its auction. Teams try to pick the best players according to their combination, which sees many players get picked and released every year. However, there are some players who have played for five or more teams in the IPL. This article is also about the top five players who have played for the most franchises in the IPL.

5. Irfan Pathan – 6 Teams

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was active in the IPL from 2008 to 2017. He played 10 seasons and changed six different teams. He played for PBKS from 2008 to 2010 and DC from 2011 to 2013.

But, his last four seasons came for four different teams. Pathan played for SRH (2014), CSK (2015), RPS (2016), and 2017 (GL) respectively. Overall, he played 103 games and took 80 wickets.

4. Yuvraj Singh – 6 Teams

Former Indian superstar Yuvraj Singh played 12 seasons between 2008 and 2019 and played for six different franchises. He was one of the highest-paid Indian players in IPL history. Singh made his debut in 2008 and played for Punjab Kings until 2010.

Then, he was part of Pune Warriors India between 2011 and 2013. In 2014 and 2015, he played for RCB and DD respectively. SRH signed him for 2016 and 2017. He was back for PBKS in 2018 for one season. In 2019, he retired when he was playing for Mumbai Indians.

3. Manish Pandey – 7 Teams

Manish Pandey was the first Indian batter to score a century in the IPL. He was one of the most popular Indian batters among the franchises and Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for INR 11 crores for four seasons between 2018 and 2021.

Pandey has played for seven different IPL teams, which is the second-most for an Indian player. He’s played for MI (2008), RCB (2009–2010), PWI (2011–2013), KKR (2014–2017), SRH (2018–2021), LSG (2022), and DC (2023), respectively.

2. Jaydev Unadkat – 8 Teams

Veteran Indian left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat has played for most teams as an Indian player. Since making his debut in 2011, he has been picked and released several times. KKR was his first team, where he played for the first two seasons in 2011 and 2012.

Then, he joined RCB in 2013 for one season. Delhi Daredevils picked him for 2014 and 2015. He played one season for KKR and RPS in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Then, he joined RR from 2018 to 2021. Unadkat played for MI in 2022 and LSG in 2023.

1. Aaron Finch – 9 Teams

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch played 11 seasons in the league. He made his debut in 2010 and played until 2022. Interestingly, in his IPL career he played for nine different franchises, which is the most for any player.

Finch made his IPL debut in 2010 for Rajasthan Royals and his last season was in 2022 when he joined Kolkata Knight Riders as a replacement. He played for RR, DD, PWI, SRH, MI, GL, PBKS, RCB, and KKR.
