Top five matches with most runs in IPL of all-time

Since its inception in 2008, the IPL has become the biggest cricket tournament in the world because the level of cricket played here is very competitive. Over the years, there have been many incredible moments recorded in the IPL.
Here, we will talk about one such stat where we will cover the most runs scored in an IPL game. Notably, the record for the highest match aggregate in a T20 game was recorded in an IPL game. That’s what makes the IPL probably the best cricket league in the world.
Here are the top five highest match aggregates in IPL
5. PBKS vs MI – 453 runs in 2017
The game between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2017 at Wankhede Stadium saw the fifth-most runs in an IPL game. Batting first, Punjab recorded 230/3.
Wriddhiman Saha scored an unbeaten 93 off 55 balls, with good contributions from Martin Guptill (36 off 18) and Glenn Maxwell (47 off 21). It looked like an impossible chase, but MI reached 223/6 on the last ball. This game saw a total of 453 runs.
4. LSG vs PBKS – 458 runs in 2023
The fourth highest match aggregate in the IPL was recorded in the 38th game of the 2023 edition. It was the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings in Mohali. LSG batted first and posted 257/5. Kyle Mayers (54 off 24), Ayush Badoni (43 off 24), Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40), and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19) made major contributions.
PBKS tried hard to reach the target but got bowled out for 201 runs in 19.5 overs. Hence, that match recorded 458 runs in 39.5 overs.
3. KKR vs PBKS – 459 runs in 2018
Interestingly, Punjab Kings are part of the third, fourth and fifth highest match aggregates in the IPL and have lost all three games. The third highest came during the 2018 edition. It was the game between KKR and PBKS in Indore.
KKR posted 245/6, with Sunil Narine (75 off 36) and Dinesh Karthik (50 off 23) scoring half-centuries. In reply, KL Rahul (66 off 29) gave Punjab a flying start, but they ended up at 214/8. Both teams scored 459 runs in the game.
2. CSK vs RR – 469 runs in 2010
The previous record for the highest match aggregate in the IPL was registered in 2010, in a game between CSK and RR in Chennai. In the first innings, CSK went on to record 246/5, courtesy of a brilliant hundred by Murali Vijay (126 off 56).
Albie Morkel (62 off 34) also scored a fifty. RR also batted brilliantly. Naman Ohja (94* off 55) and Shane Watson (60 off 25) played well, but RR reached 223/5. This game had 469 runs in just 40 overs.
1. SRH vs MI – 523 runs in 2024
Not just in the IPL, but overall, including international and domestic, the highest match aggregate was recorded in Match No. 8 of IPL 2024. This was the game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad.
SRH registered the highest IPL total of 277/3 in the game. Travis Head (62 off 24), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23), and Heinrich Klaasen (80* off 34) played incredibly well. After the first innings, MI also scored 246/5 but lost by 31 runs. Both teams scored a total of 523 runs, which is an all-time record.
