Record: 500 sixes hit in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

South Africa have smashed 84 sixes, while Australia are second with 76 sixes in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 .

The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 has been a wonderful tournament in terms of batting. A gazillion of runs have been scored so far in the tournament with teams taking the aerial route more often than going for ground stroke for boundaries. Indian pitches and conditions under lights are also playing a helping hand to the power hitters like Glenn Maxwell, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Quinton De Kock, and Fakhar Zaman.

England opener Dawid Malan’s second six was the 500th six scored in the ongoing World Cup match between England and Netherlands and for the first time in the history of the mega event, more than 500 sixes have been scored. World Cup 2023 is hosting its 40th league match on Wednesday where a record-breaking 500th six was scored. They overtook the previous record of England’s 76 sixes and became the leading six-hitting team in one World Cup edition. South Africa went on to smash 84 sixes in their 8 league games in the ongoing World Cup 2023. Quinton De Kock (18), Heinrich Klaasen (17), and David Miller the all the top contributors for South Africans in this World Cup. 

Australia are currently the second in this list and they equal England’s 76 sixes to become joint 2nd leading team in six-hitting numbers. Australia have smashed 76 sixes in 8 league games. They are chasing South Africa nicely in these special numbers. Glenn Maxwell (22) and David Warner (20) are the top contributors for Australians in six-hitting numbers. Glenn Maxwell smashed 10 sixes in his unbeaten 201-run innings against Afghanistan. 

Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is currently the leading batter in terms of six-hitting numbers. Maxwell has smashed 22 sixes in 7 innings. He has faced only 260 balls in the World Cup 2023 to go top of this list. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is 2nd with 22 sixes in 8 innings, Rohit has faced 360 balls to smash 22 sixes in this World Cup. Australian opener David Warner is 3rd with 20 sixes in 8 innings in the World Cup.
