Suryakumar Yadav can pull off shots that I can't, says AB de Villiers

World’s number one ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has emerged as a world class batter in the shortest format of the game. Suryakumar Yadav has been seen as a replacement for AB de Villiers in world cricket as Mr. 360. A prolific run-scorer in the T20 format, Suryakumar Yadav has stunned everyone with his stroke-making ability. Similarly, Former South African skipper AB de Villiers earned the reputation of being a 360-degree batter for his stroke-making ability. Now, AB de Villiers has revealed that Suryakumar Yadav can pull off shots like he never could in his career. 

Talking about Suryakumar Yadav, Former South African captain AB de Villiers said during a conversation with Robin Uthappa on Jio Cinema, “I think it’s incredible. I think he’s (Suryakumar Yadav) pulling off shots that I never did. I do, when it gets going, it’s lovely to watch. I think he still has a long way to go. I think there’s more to come. I think there’s even a better player in the future, so that’s very exciting”. Suryakumar Yadav is among the most successful batters in the T20 format since he made his debut for India in March 2021.

Suryakumar Yadav has played 48 games for India and has scored 1675 runs at an average of 46.52 with an outstanding strike rate of 175.76, SKY also smashed 3 centuries in his short international career. Despite being a successful player in the shorter format, SKY has failed to replicate his success in the longer format. In 21 ODI innings, he has scored mere 433 runs at an average of 24.05 with only two fifties. De Villiers said that his challenge would be to remain consistent in all formats.
