Abhishek Sharma scored his first half-century in Asia Cup 2025 during India vs Pakistan Super Four clash.

Indian Cricket Team opener Abhishek Sharma achieved a marvellous record during the Super Four clash against Pakistan Cricket Team in Asia Cup 2025 on Sunday, September 21. The left-handed batter scored a quickfire half-century off just 24 balls in the encounter. Later, he finished his innings at 74 off 39 deliveries.

Chasing 172 runs, openers Abhishek and Shubman Gill gave a spectacular start with the bat, etching an opening stand of 105 runs. Both slammed Pakistan bowlers all over the park, making them helpless against their attacking batting style.

With his half-century off just 24 balls, Abhishek has now become the Indian batsman with the fastest fifty against Pakistan in T20I cricket. The left-handed batter broke the record of his mentor and former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who had hit a fifty off 29 balls during a T20I clash against Pakistan in 2012.

Former Pakistan batter Mohammad Hafeez holds the record for the fastest fifty in India vs Pakistan matches in T20Is off just 23 deliveries.

Pakistan set a target of 172 runs for India

Meanwhile, Pakistan set a target of 172 runs for India in the encounter after Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first. Pakistan lost opener Fakhar Zaman in the third over for 15 runs. However, Sahibzada Farhan (58) slammed a spectacular fifty to give a powerful start.

The Men in Green reached 55/1 at the end of the powerplay overs, with Indian fielders dropping a catches at the start. Shivam Dube picked two wickets while Kuldeep Yadav got one scalp later to bring the team back into the game. In the end, Pakistan finished with 171/5 on the scoreboard.
