BIG BREAKING: Abhishek Sharma hospitalised; doubtful for IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026 clash - Reports

Abhishek Sharma has been a vital cog in the wheel for Indian Cricket Team in the T20I format since the last one year.

In what has been the latest development, as per the reports in Dainik Jagran, it is learned that the situation of Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has turned worse. The opening batter has been hospitalised just ahead of India’s clash against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Abhishek Sharma, who has been battling stomach issues for the last few days, played the game against USA with a high-grade fever. It was expected that he would get fit by the time India’s second game against Namibia begins on February 12.

However, unfortunately for him, things have turned against him. Abhishek, as per the reports, was diagnosed with stomach infection after his condition deteriorated during the team dinner at Gautam Gambhir’s place.

He left Gambhir’s home early and was admitted to the hospital on Monday and was there on Tuesday as well. The opening batter is under the observation of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s medical team.

Abhishek Sharma to miss IND vs NAM clash in T20 World Cup 2026 

According to reports, Abhishek Sharma won’t be featuring in the clash against Namibia in the T20 World Cup 2026. The game is scheduled to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, February 12. 

Moreover, he is also doubtful for the Pakistan game on 15th February as his availability will depend on his fitness. India are set to travel to Colombo for the match and it is expected that management won’t take any risks with him, especially with big games still around the corner.

Abhishek Sharma’s injury comes as a massive blow for India as he has been in a red-hot form for the last year. Although, he bagged a golden duck against the USA, his presence in the XI is very important, especially with his ability to provide quick starts. 

If he misses the IND vs NAM clash, Sanju Samson is all set to replace him in the XI. As per the reports, the right-hander had an extended session in the nets and would be keen to grab the opportunity with both hands.
