[Watch] Abishek Porel reminds Harshal Patel of Ravindra Jadeja; Smashes him for 25 runs in one over

Abishek Porel smashed 32* runs off just 10 balls against the Punjab Kings.

Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Abishek Porel hammered Punjab Kings pacer Harshal Patel in their opening fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 edition at the newly built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mohali. 

In a surprise move, the Delhi Capitals decided to use their impact substitute in the first innings itself, bringing in Porel for Ricky Bhui after they lost seven wickets. The left-handed batter Porel smashed 32* runs off just 10 balls, hitting four boundaries and two maximums.

Porel hammered PBKS pacer Harshal Patel in the final over of first innings, collecting 25 runs, including two sixes and three fours. In the 20th over of the DC’s innings, Porel welcomed Harshal with a boundary towards the backward square leg. He then smashed a six towards mid-off before sending another delivery towards the backward square leg for a boundary.

The young DC batter then smashed a four towards the third man and then guided the second last ball for a huge six-over square leg. Porel tried to take a double off the last ball, but he and his partner Axar Patel could complete only one run before Axar was ran out.

When Ravindra Jadeja hammered 37 runs against Harshal Patel in IPL 2021 match

In the IPL 2021 edition, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja smashed 37 runs off Harshal Patel, who was then playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru). 

The left-handed batter also equalled the highest runs scored in an over in the history of IPL. Jadeja joined Chris Gayle, who smashed 37 runs against Prasanth Parameswaran, for RCB against Kochi Tuskers Kerala, back in 2011.
