[Watch] Taskin Ahmed castles Aiden Markram with jaffa at ICC T20 World Cup 2024

South Africa captain Aiden Markram was dismissed for only four runs against Bangladesh.

In Match No. 21 of the T20 World Cup 2024, Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed bowled a peach of a delivery that dismantled South Africa captain Aiden Markram’s stumps at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 10.

After being asked to bowl first, Bangladesh bowlers did a fantastic job of restricting South Africa to 113/6 in 20 overs. Medium pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib picked up a three-wicket haul, whereas speedster Taskin Ahmed scalped two wickets.

With the bat, wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen played a crucial knock of 46 runs, David Miller scored 29 runs, while the rest of the Proteas’ batters failed to get going as they scraped to 113 on a tricky New York pitch.

The incident happened during the third over of the first innings when Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto brought Taskin into the attack.

Off the second delivery of the over, Proteas skipper Markram played a cracking shot through covers for a boundary. In reply, Taskin took his revenge off the fifth ball of the over when he dismantled Markram’s stumps.

The Bangladesh pacer bowled a good-length delivery, angling into the stumps as the Proteas’ skipper tried to push through the line. However, there was enough seam movement for the ball to beat Markaram’s outside edge before it went on to hit the middle stump.

The South African skipper went after scoring just four runs from eight deliveries.
