Amit Mishra revealed that Virat Kohli also abused Kyle Myers in the LSG vs RCB IPL 2023 match in Lucknow.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 edition saw one of the most heated on-field verbal spats between Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giants speedster Naveen ul Haq during their match in Lucknow.

During the match between RCB and LSG in Lucknow in 2023 edition, Naveen and Kohli had a heated argument. Both cricketers also shared some words after the match, which later involved then-LSG mentor Gambhir.

However, Virat and Naveen later made peace and had their differences settled during the India vs Afghanistan match at the ODI World Cup 2023. Kohli and Gambhir also ended their rivalry with a hug during the IPL 2024 season.

It all started in Bengaluru: Amit Mishra

Previously, in the 2023 season, Lucknow defeated Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where then-LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and a few players celebrated aggressively. After that, RCB took their revenge on Lucknow’s home ground in a thrilling clash.

India leg-spinner Amit Mishra revealed that the rivalry started when Lucknow celebrated aggressively after defeating RCB on their home ground. Mishra further said that Kohli might’ve not likeed that celebration after the end of the game.

“It all started in Bengaluru, where we (LSG) won the game and Gambhir expressed his aggression. The public was going mad, so Gautam gestured them to keep quiet. Probably Virat Kohli didn’t like that. We thought the matter ended with the game, but not for Kohli,” Mishra said on a YouTube podcast with Shubhankar Mishra.

Kohli started abusing LSG’s players: Mishra

Mishra made the shocking revelation that former RCB skipper Kohli started abusing LSG players during the IPL 2023 match between the two sides in Lucknow. The leg-spinner further added that Kohli didn’t have any grudges against Kyle Myers, but he abused him as well.

“He started abusing our players (in the LSG vs RCB rematch in Lucknow). He didn’t have any grudges with Kyle Myers, but he abused him as well. Naveen-ul-Haq was bowling, he would abuse him too. Bohot cheezein avoid ho sakti thi but Virat Kohli ne nahi ki (Several things would have been avoided but Kohli didn’t do it),” Mishra added.

“When I was batting with Naveen, I asked Kohli, ‘Who are you even talking to? He’s just a youngster and not even close to your stature. Whatever happened has happened.’ He answered back, saying, ‘You make him understand that, not me,” he continued.

Mishra further added that the main problem started after the game when Kohli started abusing Naveen during the customary handshakes between both sides. That made then-LSG mentor Gambhir take a stand for his player, and he intervened in between and had a heated argument with Kohli.

“But the problem began after the game. He (Kohli) started abusing him again during the customary handshakes. That’s when Gambhir intervened, questing why are you starting it again when the game has ended and you guys have won. I moved Gambhir away, but Naveen later came to the dressing and said that Kohli started abusing again,” Mishra further added.
