Arshdeep Singh feels that Virat Kohli will score a lot of runs in the ODI series against Australia.

Indian Cricket Team pacer Arshdeep Singh has backed Virat Kohli to find his form in the upcoming games of the ODI series against Australian Cricket Team. The left-arm pacer believes that Kohli will score a lot of runs in last two games, to be played in Adelaide and Sydney.

Arshdeep’s words came after Kohli bagged a 8-ball duck in the opening ODI in Perth. Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, made a comeback to the national side after a seven-month gap, having last featured in the ICC Champions Trophy in March. Kohli, who now stays in London, prepared for his international comeback over the previous few months, however, he completely flopped in his first outing.

Batting at No.3 in the opening game at the Optus Stadium in Perth, he was dismissed by Mitchell Starc. Trying to play a drive, he got a thick outside edge and was caught by Cooper Connolly, who put in a magnificent dive at point.

Speaking during the post-match press conference after Perth ODI, Arshdeep backed Kohli to regain his form in the upcoming matches of the series, noting that Kohli has massive experience under his belt.

“He has played more than 300 matches (ODIs) for India, so form is just a word for him. He knows how to get going. It is always like a blessing to be in the same dressing room with him, and going forward, I feel there’ll be a lot of runs for him in this series as well,” the left-arm pacer said.

When asked about how Kohli feels playing just one format for India, Arshdeep jokingly replied, “talking about the format he is playing, he has mastered this one. So I don’t know how he feels about it. I will ask him about his feelings, and maybe tell you in the next press conference”.

Ahead of his comeback, Kohli said that he feels fitter than he has been in the past. Following his dismal show in the opening game, the veteran Indian batter will aim for a comeback in the next game, scheduled to be played on Thursday, October 23, at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.

The hosts lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening game by seven wickets through DLS method. The match was interrupted by rain multiple times and was cut short to 26 overs per side. After opting to bowl first, Mitchell Marsh & Co. restricted the visitors to 136/9 in the first innings.

Losing their top four batters cheaply, the Men in Blue struggled at 45/4 at one stage. Later, KL Rahul and Axar Patel rescued the team, adding 38 and 31 runs respectively.

However, they could not put up enough runs on the scoreboard, and the home side chased the target like a walk in the park within 22 overs. Leading the team in the absence of Pat Cummins, Marsh played an anchor role during the run chase, smacking an unbeaten 46 runs to take the team home.
