Ravi Ashwin reacts to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad getting maiden India test call-ups

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been rewarded for their outstanding first class records.
This year's Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) saw some of the best performances from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, and their consistency was rewarded on Friday when both young players were selected for India's squad for the two-match Test series against the West Indies.
Gaikwad was also selected for the ODI team, although Jaiswal is only a member of the Test squad.
The two prominent players who were absent from the Indian cricket team's Test squad that would visit the West Indies in July were Cheteshwar Pujara and Umesh Yadav. While Umesh was chosen over seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Pujara had a dismal performance in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia.
Mohammed Shami, a fast bowler, was also rested for the series in favor of Navdeep Saini. Jaydev Unadkat maintained his position in the pace department, while Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar won his first India test call-up.
For the two-match Test series, Ajinkya Rahane returned in the vice-captaincy position.
