South Delhi Superstarz captain Ayush Badoni blasted 165 runs off 55 balls against North Delhi Strikers in their DPL match.

Captaining the South Delhi Superstarz, Ayush Badoni stunned the fans during his epic knock in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20 2024 tournament as he hammered 165 runs off 55 balls against North Delhi Strikers.

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Badoni, who has previously shown glimpses of his talent and power-hitting in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Lucknow Super Giants, terrorised the North Delhi bowlers by cracking 19 sixes in his jaw-dropping knock.

Badoni, who batted at number three, formed a massive partnership of 286 runs with opener Priyansh Arya, who scored 120 runs off 50 balls, including hitting six sixes in an over.

The duo powered South Delhi Superstarz to a gigantic total of 308 runs. In reply, North Delhi Strikers could manage 196 runs. Badoni’s team won the match by a whopping 112 runs.

Why is Ayush Badoni’s 165 in DPL not the highest T20 score by an Indian batsman?

However, despite scoring 165, Badoni’s innings won’t be counted as highest score by an Indian batter in T20 cricket. This is because the DPL T20 doesn’t have List-A status, and hence the records and stats in this tournament will not be counted in T20s.

In simple words, the DPLT20 2024 tournament doesn’t have official List-A or T20 status. Therefore, the records made here won’t go into the record books. However, the records will be maintained in the DPLT20 history.

The highest score by an Indian batsman in T20 cricket is 147 by Shreyas Iyer, which he made while playing for Mumbai against Sikkim in Indore in 2019. Next is Prithvi Shaw, also for Mumbai, against Assam in 2022 in Rajkot.
