Ayush Mhatre looked in splendid form before getting injured in SRH vs CSK clash of IPL 2026.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are off to a flying start as they hope to chase down one of their biggest target in this decade in Indian Premier League (IPL). On a decent batting track, CSK restricted the formidable Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batting lineup to a score of only 194/9.
SRH got off to a superb start, thanks to Abhishek Sharma, despite wickets flying around him in the form of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. However, a composed half-century from Heinrich Klaasen helped his side post a respectable total.
CSK did well to prevent the Orange Army from crossing the 200-mark, with Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj both claiming three wickets each. CSK in reply were jolted early as Sanju Samson departed in the second over itself.

However, Ayush Mhatre provided the much-needed impetus in the powerplay with an eye catching knock, headlined by five fours and one six.
Just when he was looking in brilliant touch, Mhatre suddenly pulled his hamstring while trying to get back for a quick second run. He slowed down near the crease, and instantly asked for the physio. While he decided to continue to play, he was seen limping to the other end as the batters attempted a quick run on the very next ball.
Mhatre eventually got out on the next ball trying to score a boundary. Heinrich Klaasen claimed a blinder to end Mhatre’s resistance. The injury looked very similar to the one Rohit Sharma suffered against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which ruled him out of the next contest too.
It remains to be seen how serious Mhatre’s injury is, and if it will affect his future in this season of the IPL. Mhatre is the latest addition to the list of injuries CSK has struggled with, even before the season began.
Already they have lost the services of Khaleel Ahmed, and MS Dhoni too is yet to play a match so far. CSK are currently well on track to chase down the target of 195 posted by SRH, as they have managed to keep the required rate in check despite losing three wickets. A win today will see them climb up in points table.
