Top 5 Bangladesh batsmen with most runs in T20I cricket
Only one Bangladesh batter has scored more than 2500 runs in T20I cricket till now.
The Bangladesh cricket team played their first-ever T20I match against Zimbabwe in 2006 in Khulna. Since then, the nation has seen many talented and skilled cricketers who have done well to uplift the team.
This has included a few world-class batters, who have performed well even against the bowling attacks of higher-ranked teams. These batters have had the ability to play match-winning knocks.
On that note, let’s take a look at the top five batters with the most runs for Bangladesh in T20 internationals.
Top five batsmen with most runs for Bangladesh in T20Is:
5. Mushfiqur Rahim – 1500 runs
Mushafiqur Rahim is one of the greatest all-format cricketers ever to play for Bangladesh. The wicket-keeper is the fifth-highest run-getter for his nation in T20Is.
Rahim made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2006. He has amassed 1500 runs in 102 matches, including six half-centuries.
4. Tamim Iqbal – 1701 runs
Tamim Iqbal is the greatest opener in Bangladesh’s cricketing history. The left-handed batter is also their fourth-leading run-getter in the shortest format.
Tamim made his T20I debut against Kenya in 2007. He played 78 matches and scored 1701 runs at an average of 24.08. The southpaw also scored one century and seven half-centuries in T20Is.
3. Liton Das – 1943 runs
Liton Das made his T20I debut against South Africa in 2015. The wicket-keeper batter has become a regular member of the XI in this format since then.
Liton has registered 1943 runs in 89 T20Is till now. The keeper-batter has a decent average of 23.13. He has notched up 11 half-centuries. He is the third-highest run scorer for his nation in the shortest format.
2. Mahmudullah – 2394 runs
Mahmudullah is one of the greatest cricketers of his country, across formats. The 38-year-old is Bangladesh’s second-highest run scorer in T20I cricket.
Mahmudullah made his T20I debut against Kenya in September 2007. The all-rounder has played 138 matches, in which he has so far aggregated 2394 runs at an average of 23.70. Mahmudullah has scored eight half-centuries in T20Is.
1. Shakib Al Hasan – 2551 runs
Shakib Al Hasan is recognized as one of the legendary all-rounders of the game and is unarguably his country’s greatest cricketer.
Shakib is the leading run-getter for Bangladesh in T20Is. Shakib is the only Bangladeshi batsman to score over 2500 runs in T20Is. The left-hander scored 2551 runs in 129 matches with 13 half-centuries. He retired from T20Is in 2024.
