'Everyone is confident,' says Bangladesh speedster Shoriful Islam ahead of India test series

Shoriful Islam played one test match against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in August 2024.

Bangladesh speedster Shoriful Islam said that his side will look to carry the confidence of their historic test series victory over Pakistan into the upcoming two-match test series against the Indian Cricket team, starting on September 19 in Chennai.

Recently, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh scripted history as they crushed Pakistan in the two-match test series in Rawalpindi. Bangladesh, who were considered underdogs, stunned the cricketing world by whitewashing the hosts 2-0. This was their first-ever test series win over Pakistan.

Compared to Pakistan, India are more experienced in test cricket: Shoriful Islam

Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam admitted that India are a more experienced test side as compared to Pakistan. The 23-year-old added that any success against India would help his side gain more attention and popularity in the world.

“Compared to Pakistan, India are more experienced in Test cricket. India are a big team and I feel that if we do well against them, we will be followed worldwide and everyone will look at us. If we can do well in India, it will make us happy. We are working hard, and we hope for the results to go our way,” Shoriful told Bangladesh Cricket.

“We try and start with a win because we had a decent series against Pakistan. Everyone is confident, and we will try our best and make use of the confidence,” Shoriful added.
