T20 cricket is a game with a totally different skillset as compared to the other two formats. This takes a lot from the player in a short span of time. But there are some performers who like to take up the challenge and do well every time. Here we will talk about those players who are the best in this format.

This article will include a list of batters who are the fastest to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket. Virat Kohli, who has been a run-machine across formats, is the joint-fastest Indian on this list. But there are two batters ahead of him overall. So let’s check out this elite list of batsmen.

Veteran Afghan opener Mohammad Shahzad was one diehard fan of MS Dhoni, but he himself made a good name with his attacking batting style at the top. Shahzad was a consistent player who had some unusual shots. He took 68 innings to complete 2000 T20I runs. Overall, he played 73 matches and scored 2048 runs with a best of 118 not out.

Martin Guptill was the next big opener for New Zealand after Brendon McCullum. Guptill was pretty impactful with his attacking mindset, and he is one of the top batters with most sixes in T20Is. Guptill scored 2000 runs in 68 innings. Overall, he has scored 3531 runs in 118 innings at a strike rate of 135.70, with two hundreds and 20 half-centuries.

Only a few can do what Brendon McCullum used to do on the cricket field. He was probably the most attacking Kiwi batter of all time and had a brilliant white-ball career. McCullum scored 2000 runs in 66 T20I innings. He retired in 2016 and played 71 T20I games. He scored 2140 runs at a strike rate of 136.21, with two hundreds and 13 half-centuries.

7. Virandeep Singh (MAL) :

Malaysian all-rounder Virandeep Singh is the backbone of his team in the shorter format. He is a game-changer in both departments and have performed well in his short career. Singh reached 2000 T20I runs in 64 innings. So far, he has played 67 matches and scored 2018 runs at an average of 37.37. With the ball, he has taken 45 wickets at an economy rate of 5.25.

6. Aaron Finch (AUS) :

Aaron Finch led Australia to their maiden T20 World title in 2021. He has had a superb career in this format and retired with some unbreakable records. Finch reached the 2000-run mark in 62 innings. Overall, he retired with 3120 runs in 103 matches, with two hundreds and 19 half-centuries. Both of his hundreds are 150-plus scores.

KL Rahul has been a superb T20 batter, and he is among the best batters in this format. Since making his debut in 2016 against Zimbabwe and registering a golden duck, he has come a long way. Rahul completed 2000 runs in 58 innings. So far, he has played 72 matches and scored 2265 runs at an average and strike rate of 37.75 and 139.12, with two hundreds and 22 half-centuries.

4. Virat Kohli (IND) :

One name you will always find at the top of all batting records across formats is Virat Kohli. The man has scored the most runs in the T20Is and is the joint-fastest Indian to reach 2000 T20I runs. Virat did it in just 56 innings. He has played 115 games and scored 4008 runs at an average of 52.73 and a strike rate of 137.96. Virat has one hundred and 37 half-centuries.

3. Suryakumar Yadav (IND):

Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who made his T20I debut in March 2021 at the age of 31, completed 2000 runs in a very short span of time. Suryakumar Yadav has so far played 59 matches for India accumulating 2000 runs in just 56 innings, which is joint fast by an Indian batsman to reach 2000 runs in the format. Suryakumar Yadav has three centuries and 16 half-centuries to his name in his best format.

2. Mohammad Rizwan (PAK) :

Mohammad Rizwan had a breakthrough moment when he was promoted to open for Pakistan in the white-ball format, and he has never looked back since then. The T20I player of the year in 2021 is the joint-fastest on this list. Rizwan scored 2000 runs in just 52 innings. Overall, he has played 73 innings and scored 2797 runs at an average of 49.07.

Babar Azam is the biggest name for Pakistan in modern cricket. Irrespective of the format, he is the backbone of the team. He has already achieved a number of big records and raised the bar of performance for the other batters. He took 52 innings to achieve this figure in T20Is. Babar has scored 3485 runs so far in 98 innings at an average of 41.48. He has also scored three hundreds and 30 half-centuries.
