BBL 2023-24: Points table, most runs, most wickets, after Match 35 and 36

Melbourne Renegades defeated Melbourne Stars in the Melbourne derby, of the BBL 2023-24.

Aaron Finch has received a winning farewell as Melbourne Renegades thrashed Melbourne Stars in the Melbourne Derby of the BBL 2023-24 edition. Finch had a poor day with the bat and was dismissed on a three- ball duck at Dockland Stadium in his final T20 innings. Melbourne Stars posted just 137 runs on the board. Akeal Hosein (2/18) and Kane Richardson (2/17) bowled brilliant spells for Renegades. Shaun Marsh scored a brilliant half-century to defeat Star by six wickets.

In the afternoon game, Perth Scorchers defeated Brisbane Heat comprehensively. Scorchers thrashed Heat by a huge margin of 35 runs at Optus Stadium in Perth. Pace bowler Andrew Tye (4/14) and Lance Morris (3/26) bowled magnificent spells to hand Heat their first defeat of the ongoing season. Perth bowled out Brisbane Heat on just 128 runs. Scorchers posted 163 runs on the board. Nick Hobson played a brilliant knock of 48 runs in 30 balls with two fours and four sixes while batting at number seven.

BBL 2023-24: Points Table :

Melbourne Renegades won their second game of the season and moved to seventh place in the points table. Renegades have five points in nine games and Melbourne Stars remain in fifth place in the points table with eight points in nine games. In the morning game, Brisbane Heat suffered their first setback of the season. Perth Scorchers defeated Brisbane and moved to second place in the table. Heat are comfortable at the pole position with 16 points. Perth got 13 points in 9 games.

BBL 2023-24: Most Runs

Adelaide Strikers captain Mathew Short has maintained his dominance in the leading run-scorer list with 435 runs in eight innings. Short’s teammate, Chris Lynn is second on the table with 304 runs in seven innings. Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie scored just nine runs against Brisbane Heat and remains third on the table with 296 runs. Melbourne Renegades Jake Fraser-Mcgurk moved to fourth place with 257 runs. Heat skipper Colin Munro is in the fifth spot with 224 runs.

BBL 2023-24 top wicket-takers list witnessed a major change as Perth Scorchers Lance Morris jumped to second place after his picking three wickets against Brisbane Heat. Morris has taken 13 wickets in the ongoing season so far. Brisbane Heat’s Xavier Bartlett took one wicket and he is leading the tally with 16 wickets. Heat’s Paul Walter is third with 13 wickets. Adelaide Strikers’ Jamie Overton is fourth on the table with 13 wickets. Perth Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff is fifth on the table with 12 wickets in seven games.
