BBL 2023-24: Points table, most runs, most wickets, after match 16th, HEA vs THU
Brisbane Heat defeated Sydney Thunder at the Gabba by 15 runs in 16th match of BBL 2023-24.
Brisbane Heat outclassed Sydney Thunder at the Gabba as they thrashed the visitors by 15 runs in their fifth league game of the Big Bash League 2023-24. Heat’s top-order batter Nathan McSweeney played a match-winning knock and scored 73 runs in 52 balls. McSweeney smashed 7 fours and a six in his innings. Heat finished off their innings at 172. Sydney Thunder all-rounder Daniel Sams went on to pick a 5-wicket haul, but that wasn’t enough for Thunder to come up in the points table.
Sydney Thunder had a terrific start to their chase of 173 runs as opener Cameron Bancroft (46) and Alex Hales (28) added 58 runs for the opening wicket. Jason Sangha (11) also spent some time in the middle, but he perished early while trying to play an aerial shot in the 12th over. Sangha’s wicket brought good luck for Brisbane Heat as they continued picking up wickets at regular intervals. Heat restricted Sydney Thunder for 157 runs in 20 overs.
BBL 2023-24: Points Table
Brisbane Heat have continued their unbeaten run going in the Big Bash League 2023-24. The Colin Munro-led side has won 4 out of 5 league games and tops the table with 9 points. Brisbane Heat’s one game against Adelaide Strikers was washed out due to rain. With the loss, Sydney Thunder have slipped down to fifth spot. Thunder’s net run-rate has suffered a massive hit.
BBL 2023-24: Most Runs
Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie is still leading the top run-scorers chart with 182 runs in 4 innings, while Cameron Bancroft has jumped up to second spot with his knock of 46 runs against Brisbane Heat. Sydney Thunder opener Bancroft is second with 175 runs. Brisbane Heat opener Colin Munro got out on a duck and he slipped down to 3rd place with 157 runs. Adelaide Strikers skipper Mathew Short is 4th in the list with 137 runs and Renegades’ Hilton Cartwright is 5th with 126 runs.

Brisbane Heat’s Xavier Bartlett is 2nd in the table with 8 wickets in 4 games. Perth Scorchers’ Jason Behrendorff is 3rd with 8 wickets in 4 games. Thunder’s Zaman Khan is 4th with 8 wickets in 4 games. Heat’s leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson is 5th in the table with 7 wickets.
